BOMBÓN is an Afro-Latin trio that fuses Cuban music with Latin jazz, timba, rumba, and reparto, blending traditional and urban sounds into a single rhymthic pulse.
ABOUT
Aura (stylized as "AVRA") is a Venezuelan-American percussionist and DJ based in New Orleans and Shanghai.Originally a classically-trained percussionist, AVRA's international experiences allow her to introduce diverse elements to her production style. Her use of folklore and Afro Venezuelan percussion distinguishes her from other tech house artists. It is her priority to maintain the integrity of the rhythms passed down for generations while still making it relevant to today's electronic scene. Her lyrics come from the heart and she challenges this generation to take pride in their cultural roots and share the beauty inherited from their ancestors with the world.
MARY PAZ
Mary Paz is a Cuban percussionist, singer, and DJ whose career bridges tradition and innovation in Afro-Cuban music. She began at 18 with Diakara under her mentor Oscar Valdés and went on to perform with groups like Interactivo and Yissy & Banda Ancha. In 2014, she founded Mary Paz & Electro Percussion, blending Afro-Cuban rhythms with electronic music and live performance technology. Her work has taken her to international stages, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Paris’s L’Espace Niemeyer, performing alongside artists like Marcus Miller and Bobby Carcassés. Now a member of Jane Bunnett’s Grammy-nominated Maqueque, Mary Paz continues to perform, teach, and promote Cuban percussion worldwide through workshops and cross-cultural education.
VICTOR CAMPBELL
Victor Campbell is a Cuban-born pianist whose music seamlessly connects the sounds of Cuba and New Orleans. Trained in classical piano from the age of five in Camagüey, he discovered jazz at Havana’s National Art Schools, a revelation that shaped his artistic path. After performing and touring internationally — including with Buena Vista Social Club’s Omara Portuondo — he moved to New Orleans in 2019, drawn by the city’s deep musical kinship with Cuba. Known for blending genres, Campbell leads his own trio and quartet, collaborates with artists like Alexey Marti, and fronts La Timba Swamp, a project fusing timba with New Orleans grooves. His music celebrates the rhythmic and cultural bridges between both worlds, reflecting his belief in constant evolution and the unifying power of dance and rhythm.
